Sure the Oscars are grand. But any award will bring out the shine in an actor.
It all starts early on, usually in grade school, when SOMEONE (other than your actor) got the leading role in the Christmas pageant. Ever since then, it’s been payback time.
And what better payback than a shiny award statue.
Sure they’ll say it doesn’t mean anything, and sure they’ll say its about supporting the community, and sure they’ll say acting isn’t a competition. Don’t believe a word of it. Winning means putting little Billy and whoever it was who picked him for the lead in the school play was DEAD WRONG, damnit.
Witness the award show to end all awards show. The Razzies. These honour the best of the worst, and some of the best are nominated again this year.
The Razzies take place Feb 24th in Hollywood. Sharon Stone and the Wayan brothers lead the nominations this year, along with people like Nicolas Cage, Rob Schneider, Sir Ben Kingsley, Canada’s Martin Short, and Tim Allen.
According to the Razzie web site:
Should they choose to accept their RAZZIES® “winners” receive a gold-spray-painted, golf-ball-sized raspberry atop a mangled super 8 film reel, with an estimated street value of $4.97.
And that, my friends, is more than enough to put little Billy in his place.
